Pomodoro Timer
Free Pomodoro timer with adjustable focus, short and long break lengths, long break interval, auto-start, alarm sound and session counter.
Focus sessions completed: 0
The timer counts down to a fixed end time, so it stays accurate even when this tab is in the background.
What is Pomodoro Timer?
A timer for the Pomodoro technique: work in focused sessions (25 minutes by default) separated by short breaks (5 minutes), with a longer break (15 minutes) after every few sessions. All lengths and the long break interval are adjustable.
How to use Pomodoro Timer
- Set Focus, Short break and Long break lengths in minutes, and how many sessions come before a long break.
- Click Start to begin the current phase; the badge shows whether you are in Focus, Short break or Long break.
- When a phase ends an alarm plays and the next phase is prepared; tick Start next phase automatically to continue without clicking.
- Use Skip to jump to the next phase and Reset to return to the first focus session.
Example
Long break every 2 sessions, long break 20 min; click Skip three times
Long break – 20:00 – Focus sessions completed: 2
When to use Pomodoro Timer
Use it to study, write or code in focused blocks and to remember to take breaks. If your work needs long uninterrupted stretches (for example deep debugging), lengthen the focus time or use a plain countdown instead.
How Pomodoro Timer works
Each phase is a countdown to a fixed end timestamp, so it remains accurate in background tabs. When a focus phase ends (or is skipped) the completed-session counter increases; if the counter is a multiple of the long-break interval, the next phase is a long break, otherwise a short break. After any break the next phase is focus. The alarm is generated with the Web Audio API.
Common Use Cases
- Studying in 25/5 minute blocks
- Structuring a writing or coding session
- Reminding yourself to stand up and rest your eyes
- Tracking how many focused sessions you complete in a day
FAQs
What is the Pomodoro technique?
A time-management method by Francesco Cirillo: work for one interval (traditionally 25 minutes), take a short break, and after four intervals take a longer break.
Does skipping a focus session count it as completed?
Yes. Skip ends the current focus session and counts it, so the long break still comes after the configured number of sessions.
Can I change the lengths while the timer runs?
New lengths apply to the next phase or after Reset; the running countdown is not changed.
Is my progress saved?
No, the counter lives only in the open page and is reset when you reload it.
