SHA-1

Secure Hash Algorithm 1 - 160-bit hash function

SHA-1 produces a 160-bit digest and is still used for Git object IDs, older certificates and many published checksum lists. Hash text or compute the SHA-1 of a file without uploading it. Practical collision attacks exist, so prefer SHA-256 or SHA-3 for new security designs.
