SVG to PNG Converter

Convert SVG to PNG in your browser at any scale or exact width or height, with a transparent or colored background. Handles SVGs with only a viewBox.

Drop an SVG file here or click to choose one
You can also paste an image from the clipboard (Ctrl+V / ⌘V)

External images, fonts and stylesheets referenced by the SVG are not loaded when it is rendered as an image; embed them or convert text to paths first.

Runs entirely in your browser. Your data is never uploaded.

What is SVG to PNG?

This tool renders an SVG vector graphic as a PNG image. Upload an .svg file or paste SVG code, choose a scale factor (1×–4× or any value) or a fixed width or height, and keep the background transparent or fill it with a color. The vector is re-rendered at the target size, so the PNG stays sharp at any resolution.

How to use SVG to PNG

  1. Drop or choose an SVG file, or paste the SVG markup into SVG code.
  2. Check the detected Intrinsic size (from width/height, from the viewBox, or the 300×150 default).
  3. Under Output size choose a scale factor or a fixed width/height and enter the value.
  4. Keep Transparent background on, or untick it and pick a background color.
  5. Download the PNG (named like logo@2x.png).

Example

Input
<svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" viewBox="0 0 24 12"><rect width="24" height="12" fill="#ff0000"/></svg> at scale 2
Output
48×24 PNG, solid red (intrinsic size 24×12 taken from the viewBox)

When to use SVG to PNG

Use it to produce PNG icons, logos or illustrations for apps, social media, documents or platforms that do not accept SVG. Keep using SVG on the web when you can: it is smaller and resolution independent. SVGs that rely on external fonts or images will render without them.

How SVG to PNG works

The tool reads the root <svg> element’s width, height and viewBox to work out the intrinsic size (absolute units such as pt, mm and in are converted to px; percentages fall back to the viewBox). It then rewrites the root element with the exact target width and height (adding a viewBox if missing so the drawing scales), loads it as an image and draws it on a canvas of that size, so vectors are rasterized at full resolution rather than scaled up from a small bitmap.

Common Use Cases

  • Exporting an SVG logo at 2× and 3× for mobile app assets.
  • Creating a 512×512 PNG icon from an SVG for a store listing.
  • Converting an SVG chart to PNG for a slide deck or Word document.
  • Making a PNG with a white background for platforms that show transparency as black.

Security Note

Images are decoded, processed and encoded locally in your browser with the Canvas API. Nothing is uploaded to a server. The SVG is rendered as an image, so embedded scripts do not run.

FAQs

My SVG has no width or height. What size will the PNG be?

The viewBox width and height are used as the intrinsic size. If there is no viewBox either, browsers use 300×150, and the tool tells you so.

Why is my text in a different font?

SVGs rendered as images cannot load external fonts. Convert text to paths in your editor or embed the font as a data URI.

How large can the PNG be?

As large as your browser’s canvas allows. If you request more, the tool scales the output down and shows a notice.
