What is Text Reverser?

Reverses text in four ways: the whole text character by character, the order of words in each line, the order of lines, or the letters inside each word while keeping word order. Emoji, flags and letters with accents are treated as single characters so they are never broken.

How to use Text Reverser

  1. Paste or type text into the Input box.
  2. Choose the mode in Reverse.
  3. Copy the result from Output.

Example

Input
ab👍🏽é
Output
é👍🏽ba

When to use Text Reverser

Use it for puzzles, palindrome checks, reversing lists (newest-first ↔ oldest-first) or creating mirrored text for fun. Reversing right-to-left scripts such as Arabic or Hebrew character by character produces text that renders differently than you might expect because the browser still applies bidirectional layout.

How Text Reverser works

Character mode splits the text into grapheme clusters with Intl.Segmenter and reverses that array, so 👍🏽 (two code points) and é written as e + combining accent stay together – a naive split('').reverse() would break them. Word order splits each line on whitespace and reverses the words. Line order reverses the list of lines. "Letters inside each word" reverses every non-space run separately and keeps the spacing.

Common Use Cases

  • Reversing a chronological list to put the newest item first
  • Checking whether a word or phrase is a palindrome
  • Creating backwards text for games and social posts
  • Reversing word order in a sentence for language exercises

FAQs

Why do emoji stay correct after reversing?

The tool reverses user-perceived characters (grapheme clusters), not raw code units, so multi-part emoji, flags and combining accents are moved as one unit.

What is the difference between reversing words and reversing each word?

"Word order" turns "one two three" into "three two one"; "letters inside each word" turns it into "eno owt eerht".

Can I make upside-down text?

Use the Upside Down Text tool, which also replaces letters with rotated look-alikes.
