Advanced Password Generator

Generate up to 100 passwords at once with custom symbol sets, extra or excluded characters, no-repeat mode and exact entropy. Runs in your browser.

Characters to use

Added to the pool as their own set, e.g. accented letters.

Very strong129.4 bits

Each password is drawn uniformly at random with crypto.getRandomValues from a pool of 89 characters. With 20 characters and the selected rules there are 2^129.4 possible passwords, i.e. 129.4 bits of entropy.

What is Advanced Password Generator?

The advanced generator gives full control over the alphabet: edit the symbol set, add extra characters such as accented letters, exclude characters a system rejects, forbid repeated characters and create up to 100 passwords in one go. It reports the exact entropy for your settings.

How to use Advanced Password Generator

  1. Choose the Length (4–1024) and How many passwords to create (1–100).
  2. Select the character sets and edit the Symbol set to match what the target system accepts.
  3. Optionally fill in Extra characters and Never use these characters, and tick Never repeat a character.
  4. Click Regenerate, then Copy or Download the list as a text file.

Example

Input
Length 20, upper + lower + digits, no look-alikes, no repeats, 3 passwords
Output
QqcLj5RgsKmHYZ4dkubN
4MLT9KXU7mneYoxd8isW
AWBrvR3QLS9C7gaYFpfV
(111.1 bits each)

Random output; your passwords will differ.

When to use Advanced Password Generator

Use it when a system has unusual password rules (a restricted symbol list, forbidden characters, a fixed alphabet such as hex) or when you need many passwords at once, for example for provisioning accounts. For a single everyday password the basic generator is simpler.

How Advanced Password Generator works

Selected sets, the custom symbol set and extra characters form disjoint groups; excluded and look-alike characters are removed. Characters are drawn with crypto.getRandomValues and rejection sampling. With Never repeat a character, the pool is shuffled with an unbiased Fisher–Yates shuffle and the first N characters are taken. Requiring each group uses rejection of whole passwords, so the output stays uniform. The entropy is log2 of the exact count: N^L (or the falling factorial N!/(N−L)! without repeats), corrected by inclusion–exclusion for required groups.

Common Use Cases

  • Provisioning a batch of initial passwords for new user accounts
  • Creating passwords for systems that only accept certain symbols
  • Generating hex-only or digit-only secrets by using extra characters
  • Producing passwords without characters that break shell scripts or config files

Security Note

When you download the list, the file stays on your device; delete it once the passwords are distributed. Send initial passwords over a separate channel from the usernames.

FAQs

Does 'never repeat a character' make passwords stronger?

No, slightly weaker: it removes possibilities. It only exists for systems that reject repeated characters. The entropy figure shows the exact effect.

How do I create a hex-only secret?

Untick uppercase, lowercase and symbols, keep digits and enter abcdef in Extra characters. Each character then carries exactly 4 bits.

Are the bulk passwords independent of each other?

Yes. Every password is drawn separately from the secure random generator; knowing one gives no information about the others.

Why is there a length limit for no-repeat mode?

Without repetition you cannot use more characters than the pool contains, so the length must not exceed the pool size.
