Upside Down Text Generator
Flip text upside down with rotated Unicode look-alike characters that you can paste anywhere, or turn upside-down text back to normal. Free and instant.
Each character is replaced by a rotated look-alike Unicode character and the text is reversed, so it reads correctly when turned 180°.
What is Upside Down Text?
Writes your text upside down using Unicode characters that look like rotated letters (a → ɐ, e → ǝ, ! → ¡) and reverses the order, so the result reads correctly when the screen is turned 180°. It can also convert upside-down text back to normal.
How to use Upside Down Text

Example

¡plɹoM ollǝH
When to use Upside Down Text
Use it for fun messages, social bios and puzzles. The characters come from different Unicode blocks (IPA, Lisu, letterlike symbols), so their look depends on the font, and screen readers will not read the text meaningfully.
How Upside Down Text works
Each line is split into grapheme clusters and reversed, the order of lines is reversed too, and every character is replaced from a mapping table: lowercase letters (b ↔ q, d ↔ p, n ↔ u, h → ɥ, t → ʇ…), capitals using turned or look-alike letters (A → ∀, E → Ǝ, L → ⅂, T → ⊥, Y → ⅄), digits (2 → ↊, 3 → ↋, 6 ↔ 9) and punctuation (? → ¿, ! → ¡, ( ↔ ), . → ˙). Characters without a rotated form stay as they are; accents are kept as combining marks. Flipping back applies the inverse table.
Common Use Cases
- Playful social media posts and bios
- Puzzle or escape-room clues
- Eye-catching nicknames in games and chats
- Decoding upside-down text someone sent you
FAQs
Why do some letters look slightly different?
Unicode has no complete set of rotated Latin letters, so some are borrowed look-alikes from other scripts (for example Lisu ꓭ for an upside-down B). Rendering depends on your font.
Can I flip text back?
Yes, choose Flip back to normal. Text created by this tool converts back exactly.
Does it work with other alphabets?
Only Latin letters, digits and common punctuation have mappings. Other characters are kept as they are, in reversed order.
