Assumptions & method
  • Several discounts are applied one after another (20% + 10% = 28% off, not 30%). Sales tax is added to the discounted price.

What is Discount Calculator?

Finds the price after a percentage discount and, if you enter more, after additional discounts applied on top (for example 20% off, then an extra 10%). It shows the amount saved, the real combined discount and the final price with optional sales tax.

How to use Discount Calculator

  1. Enter the Original price and the first discount.
  2. Optionally add Discount 2 and Discount 3 for stacked offers.
  3. Optionally enter Sales tax and read the final price.

Example

Input
Price 100, discounts 20% and 10%, tax 8%
Output
Final price 77.76; saved 28.00; total discount 28%

When to use Discount Calculator

Use it in sales, coupon stacking and price comparisons. If a shop adds discounts instead of stacking them (20% + 10% = 30%), simply enter 30% as a single discount.

How Discount Calculator works

Discounts are applied one after another: price × (1 − d1) × (1 − d2) × (1 − d3). Savings = original − discounted, and total discount = savings ÷ original. Tax is added to the discounted price: final = discounted × (1 + tax).

Common Use Cases

  • Checking a "20% + extra 10% off" offer
  • Finding the price with sales tax at the register
  • Comparing two different discount offers
  • Calculating savings for a budget

FAQs

Why is 20% + 10% only 28%?

The second discount applies to the already reduced price: 100 → 80 → 72, so you save 28.

Does the order of discounts matter?

No. Multiplication is commutative, so 10% then 20% gives the same result.

Is tax applied before or after the discount?

After, which is how most sales taxes work.
