Twitter (X) Card Generator

Generate twitter:card meta tags for X (Twitter) link previews: summary or summary_large_image, site and creator handles, title, description, image and alt.

At least 300×157 px, 2:1 ratio (e.g. 1200×600).

HTML for the <head> section
<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image">
<meta name="twitter:site" content="@example">
<meta name="twitter:title" content="My Awesome Article">
<meta name="twitter:description" content="A short summary shown in the card.">
<meta name="twitter:image" content="https://example.com/card.png">
<meta name="twitter:image:alt" content="Article cover">
X (Twitter) falls back to og:title, og:description and og:image when twitter:* tags are missing, so you only need twitter:card plus the tags you want to differ.

What is Twitter Card Generator?

This generator writes the twitter: meta tags that X (formerly Twitter) uses to render link cards: the card type (summary or summary_large_image), the @site and @creator accounts, title, description, image and image alt text.

How to use Twitter Card Generator

  1. Choose the card type: summary (small square image) or summary_large_image (wide image).
  2. Enter the site and creator handles; the @ is added if you leave it out.
  3. Fill in the title, description, image URL and alt text.
  4. Copy the tags into the page's <head>.

Example

Input
summary, @example, title Hello
Output
<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary">
<meta name="twitter:site" content="@example">
<meta name="twitter:title" content="Hello">
<meta name="twitter:description" content="A short summary shown in the card.">
<meta name="twitter:image" content="https://example.com/card.png">
<meta name="twitter:image:alt" content="Article cover">

When to use Twitter Card Generator

Use it when you want X to show a large image card or credit an author account. If your page already has Open Graph tags, you only need twitter:card plus any values that should differ on X.

How Twitter Card Generator works

The tool always emits twitter:card and adds the other tags only when filled in, HTML-escaped. Handles are normalized to start with @. image:alt is only added together with an image. X falls back to the Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image) for anything not set, so you can keep the twitter: set minimal.

Common Use Cases

  • Turn a plain link into a large image card on X.
  • Attribute an article to its author's @handle.
  • Use a different image on X than on Facebook.
  • Add alt text to card images for accessibility.

FAQs

Do I need Twitter tags if I have Open Graph tags?

Only twitter:card is required to choose the card type; X reuses og:title, og:description and og:image otherwise.

What image size should I use?

summary_large_image: at least 300×157, ideally 1200×600 (2:1). summary: at least 144×144, square.

Does it still work after the rename to X?

Yes. X continues to read the twitter: meta tags.
