<meta property="og:type" content="article"> <meta property="og:title" content="My Awesome Article"> <meta property="og:description" content="A short summary shown when the link is shared."> <meta property="og:url" content="https://example.com/article"> <meta property="og:site_name" content="Example"> <meta property="og:locale" content="en_US"> <meta property="og:image" content="https://example.com/og-image.png"> <meta property="og:image:secure_url" content="https://example.com/og-image.png"> <meta property="og:image:width" content="1200"> <meta property="og:image:height" content="630"> <meta property="og:image:alt" content="Article cover">
What is Open Graph Generator?
This tool generates the Open Graph <meta property="og:…"> tags that control how a link looks when shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack, Discord, Telegram and many other apps. It covers og:type, title, description, URL, site name, locale and image with secure URL, width, height and alt text, and warns when required properties are missing.
How to use Open Graph Generator
- Fill in og:title, og:type, og:url and og:image (the four required properties).
- Add the description, site name, locale and image size and alt text.
- Fix any missing-property warning.
- Copy the tags into the page's <head>.
When to use Open Graph Generator
Use it whenever a page will be shared and you want control over the preview instead of letting each app guess. Networks cache previews; after changing tags, use the platform's debugger (e.g. Facebook Sharing Debugger) to refresh. For X (Twitter) also see the Twitter Card generator.
How Open Graph Generator works
Each non-empty field becomes one <meta property="og:…" content="…"> tag with HTML-escaped content, in the order recommended by the Open Graph protocol. When the image URL uses https, an og:image:secure_url tag with the same URL is added; image width, height and alt are only written when an image is set.
Common Use Cases
- Give blog posts a large image preview on LinkedIn and Facebook.
- Set og:locale for a localized page.
- Add og:image:alt for accessibility.
- Make product pages show the product name and photo in WhatsApp.
FAQs
What image size works best?
1200×630 px (1.91:1) is displayed well by most platforms. Keep important content centered because some apps crop to a square.
Which og tags are required?
The protocol requires og:title, og:type, og:image and og:url. Description and site name are optional but recommended.
Why does Facebook still show my old image?
Previews are cached. Re-scrape the URL in the Sharing Debugger, or change the image URL.
