Strikethrough Text Generator
Create s̶t̶r̶i̶k̶e̶t̶h̶r̶o̶u̶g̶h̶, slashed, underlined, double underlined or overlined text with Unicode marks you can paste into any app without formatting.
A Unicode combining mark is added after every character, so the line survives copy & paste into apps without text formatting.
What is Strikethrough Text Generator?
Adds a line through, under or over your text using Unicode combining characters, so the effect survives copy and paste into places without formatting options, such as social bios, comments and chat apps. Styles include long and short strikethrough, slash, underline, double underline and overline.
How to use Strikethrough Text Generator
- Type the text into the Input box.
- Pick a Line style.
- Tick Don't draw the line through spaces if you want gaps between words.
- Copy the output and paste it where you need it.
Example

When to use Strikethrough Text Generator
Use it for jokes ("I l̶o̶v̶e̶ tolerate Mondays"), corrections in casual messages and decorative bios. In documents, HTML or Markdown, use real formatting (<s>, ~~text~~) instead – combining marks make text harder to search, and screen readers may read them oddly.
How Strikethrough Text Generator works
After every grapheme cluster the tool inserts one combining character: U+0336 (long stroke overlay), U+0335 (short stroke), U+0338 (long solidus overlay), U+0332 (low line), U+0333 (double low line) or U+0305 (overline). The renderer draws the mark on top of the preceding character. Line breaks never get a mark, and spaces are skipped when that option is on.
Common Use Cases
- Crossing out words for humorous social posts
- Showing an old price next to a new one in a chat message
- Underlining text in apps without formatting
- Decorative names and bios
FAQs
Why does the line look broken in some apps?
Each character gets its own combining stroke, and some fonts draw them with tiny gaps or slightly different heights.
Is this real formatting?
No, it is plain Unicode text with extra characters, which is why it works where formatting is not available.
Will search engines find the words?
Usually not reliably, because the extra combining characters change the text. Avoid it for content that must be searchable.
