Extract Links
Extract every link from plain text, HTML (href and src) or Markdown into a clean list. Remove duplicates, include relative links, copy or download.
Runs entirely in your browser. Your data is never uploaded.
What is Extract Links?
Collects all links from pasted content: bare URLs in plain text, href and src attributes in HTML, link targets in Markdown and mailto: addresses. The list keeps the order in which links appear and can be de-duplicated.
How to use Extract Links
- Paste text, HTML source or Markdown into the Input box.
- Keep Remove duplicates on for a unique list.
- Tick Include relative links to also list paths like /page or image.png from HTML and Markdown.
- Copy or download the list of links.
Example
<a href="https://a.com/x?a=1&b=2">A</a> [md](https://b.com) see http://c.com.
https://a.com/x?a=1&b=2 https://b.com http://c.com
When to use Extract Links
Use it to audit links in an article or e-mail, collect sources from notes, or check which resources a page references. It works on text you paste – it does not crawl websites or check whether links are alive.
How Extract Links works
Three passes find links: href= and src= attribute values (quoted or unquoted, HTML entities like & decoded), Markdown link targets ](url "title"), and bare URLs starting with http://, https://, ftp:// or www. plus mailto: links in the remaining text. javascript: and data: URLs are skipped. Trailing punctuation and unmatched closing brackets are removed from bare URLs. Results are ordered by their position in the input; relative paths are only included when the option is on.
Common Use Cases
- Listing all links in a newsletter before sending
- Collecting reference URLs from research notes
- Getting image and script sources from HTML
- Pulling links out of a Markdown README
FAQs
Does it check whether the links work?
No. It only extracts them; nothing is requested from the network.
Why are some links missing?
Bare links need a scheme (http://, https://, ftp://) or a www. prefix. Relative paths only appear when Include relative links is on and they are in an href/src attribute or a Markdown link.
Can I extract links from a live web page?
Open the page, view its source (Ctrl+U / ⌘+Option+U), copy everything and paste it here.
