GPA Calculator
Calculate your semester and cumulative GPA from course credits and letter grades on the US 4.0 or 4.3 scale, or with grade points from any other scale.
Results
- GPA = Σ(credits × grade points) ÷ Σ credits. US 4.0 scale: A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3 … F = 0. Choose 'grade points' for any other scale.
What is GPA Calculator?
Calculates a credit-weighted grade point average from a list of courses. Choose letter grades on the US 4.0 or 4.3 scale, or enter grade points directly for any other system. Previous GPA and credits can be added to get the cumulative GPA.
How to use GPA Calculator
- Choose the Grading scale.
- For each course enter the Credits and choose the Grade (or type grade points). Add rows as needed.
- Optionally enter your previous cumulative GPA and credits to get the cumulative GPA.
Example
A (3 credits), B+ (4 credits), C (3 credits)
GPA 3.12, 10 credits
When to use GPA Calculator
Use it to track grades during the term or to check a transcript. Schools differ (some give no A+, some weight honours courses); use the grade-points mode to match your school's exact table.
How GPA Calculator works
Each course contributes credits × grade points. GPA = Σ(credits × points) ÷ Σ credits. On the 4.0 scale A+ and A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B− = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C− = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, D− = 0.7, F = 0; the 4.3 scale gives A+ = 4.3. Cumulative GPA = (current quality points + previous GPA × previous credits) ÷ (current + previous credits).
Common Use Cases
- Calculating a semester GPA
- Updating a cumulative GPA after a new term
- Planning which grades you need
- Converting a transcript on another scale
FAQs

What about pass/fail courses?
Leave them out; they usually do not count towards GPA.
Can I use a 10-point or 5-point scale?
Yes, choose Grade points (any scale) and enter the points for each course.
