GUID Generator

Generate Microsoft GUIDs in .NET formats: {B} braces, D, N, P, X hex structure, Windows Registry, C# new Guid("…") and Base64 byte order. Bulk and uppercase.

Up to 1000

Output

A GUID is Microsoft's name for a UUID. These are random version 4 values, generated with crypto.getRandomValues.

What is GUID Generator?

A GUID is Microsoft's name for a UUID: a 128-bit identifier used across Windows, .NET, COM, SQL Server and Visual Studio projects. This tool generates random version 4 GUIDs and prints them in the formats Microsoft tools expect, including the .NET Guid.ToString() format specifiers and the Windows Registry style.

How to use GUID Generator

  1. Pick a Format, e.g. Braces {…} (B) for Visual Studio or Windows Registry for .reg files.
  2. Set How many GUIDs you need and toggle Uppercase.
  3. Click Regenerate for a new batch and copy or download the list.

Example

Input
Format Braces {…} (B), Uppercase, How many 1
Output
{E17C75C3-AEFF-475C-B725-FA19A83F612B}

The same GUID in X format is {0xE17C75C3,0xAEFF,0x475C,{0xB7,0x25,0xFA,0x19,0xA8,0x3F,0x61,0x2B}} and as .NET Base64 w3V84f+uXEe3JfoZqD9hKw==. Your values will differ.

When to use GUID Generator

Use it when you need a new GUID for a Visual Studio project, COM class, WiX installer, registry key, SQL Server uniqueidentifier or C# code. For non-Microsoft systems or time-ordered keys (v7), use the UUID generator.

How GUID Generator works

Each GUID is a random RFC 9562 version 4 UUID (122 random bits from crypto.getRandomValues). The formats follow .NET's Guid.ToString(format): D xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx, N 32 digits, B in braces, P in parentheses and X as {0x…,0x…,0x…,{0x..,…}}. The registry format is uppercase in braces. Base64 (.NET ToByteArray) encodes the bytes in Microsoft's mixed-endian order: the first three groups (Data1, Data2, Data3) are little-endian, the last 8 bytes unchanged — the same bytes SQL Server stores in a uniqueidentifier.

Common Use Cases

  • Creating a ProjectGuid or COM CLSID
  • Writing a Windows Registry .reg file with a new key
  • Seeding uniqueidentifier columns in SQL Server test data
  • Pasting a ready-made new Guid("…") into C# code

FAQs

What is the difference between a GUID and a UUID?

None in structure: both are 128-bit identifiers. GUID is the Microsoft term; the byte order only differs when the value is stored as raw bytes (Guid.ToByteArray).

Why does the Base64 output not match the hex digits?

.NET stores the first three groups little-endian, so the bytes are reordered before Base64 encoding. This matches what Convert.ToBase64String(guid.ToByteArray()) returns.

Are GUIDs case-sensitive?

No. Windows and .NET treat uppercase and lowercase hex digits as the same GUID; the registry conventionally uses uppercase.
