Title Case Converter
Convert text to Title Case: capitalize major words while keeping short words like a, of and the lowercase (optional). Keeps acronyms and brand names.
Example: the lord of the rings → The Lord of the Rings
Each line is converted separately. Words are split at spaces, punctuation, _ - . / and camelCase boundaries; acronyms such as XML stay together and digits stay attached to the previous word.

The Title Case converter capitalizes the words of a heading. By default it follows the common English style guides: short articles, conjunctions and prepositions (a, an, the, and, of, in, on…) stay lowercase unless they are the first or last word or follow a colon. Turn the option off to capitalize every word.
How to use Title Case
- Type or paste your title into the Input box.
- Leave Keep short English words lowercase on for headline style, or turn it off to capitalize every word.
- Copy the result from the Output box.
Example
the lord of the rings: the return of the king
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
When to use Title Case
Use it for blog post titles, headings, book or song titles. Style guides (APA, Chicago, AP) differ in details such as prepositions longer than four letters; review important titles. The minor-word list is English only – for other languages turn the option off or use Sentence case.
How Title Case works
Each line is split into words and punctuation. Every word gets an initial capital and the rest lowercase, except: minor words from a fixed English list (a, an, the, and, but, or, nor, for, so, yet, as, at, by, in, of, off, on, per, to, up, via, vs, from, into, with, over) when they are not first, last or after :, ., ! or ?; all-caps acronyms (unless the whole line is in capitals); and mixed-case brand names like iPhone. Hyphenated parts are treated as separate words (State-of-the-Art). Identifier-like lines without spaces are split into words first.
Common Use Cases
- Formatting blog post and article headlines
- Capitalizing book, film or song titles
- Normalising product names
- Cleaning headings in imported documents
